You arrive in the world, having lost your memory, and agree to work for a series of dealers, whose aim is to discover the true nature of the Zone, all the while trying to find out your identity and the reason for the mysterious mission on your PDA. Maybe because I looked at it from a level designer perspective and the world in it was outstanding to me, no wonder it took them all that time to make the game. Me? I played it like a Normal shooter and did a few quests here and there (which means I am a guy that needs story on a game and don't like to have too much freedom) but still I found the overall package to be really fun. If you didn't find that fun, it's because the game it's not for you.ĮDIT : You didn't say that it was fun or not to you. To me, the whole point of the game was to Roam/talk/combat/roam/talk/combat/roam/talk/combat, rinse, repeat. I don't think a cinematic or movie story would fit on the kind of world S.T.A.L.K.E.R has.
From there on you're the maker of the story. You know your background, what's going on.Just the neccesary stuff. In fact I think if you want a realistic experience that really immerses you, the story it had was sufficient. So the realism in it is mostly being able to do whatever you want on your own in there.
How is that possible? Just by the graphics? No. but people seem to want story, and realism. Roam/talk/combat/roam/talk/combat/roam/talk/combat, rinse, repeat.
